Ok, I’m curious, why is it that, in all of what Diabeetus posted there are no Hard figures, or actual percentages, save that single “approaching 100%” Which, without context, in an of itself, might as well be saying “approaching zero/infinity…”?

Does anyone else find that kind of thing odd, when people make nonspecific quantifications when making statements based on statistical data? Or am i just being anal retentive (as usual)?

I think the underlying downfall is that it strips humanity of not just personal motivation, but personality, culture, choice. The guy though in a similar way as the social Darwinists, that everyone is bound to evolve into 19th-century victorians, and then into communists. Of course, he said he wasn’t a determinist in some letter but every word of his books is deterministic.

What he didn’t understand was that a person and cultures beliefs, and preferences – things that are merely accidental like what kind of food they might prefer, or how they spend their free time, and small details in the morality – deeply effect a country’s economy, politics and so on. We’re not just existing machines that do nothing but survive. We’re individuals who are shaped by where and when we live.

Marx is what happens when people spend too much time thinking, and to little time looking at actual evidence.

I think the underlying down fall is lack of personal motivation. When people have no reward for success, they will do just enough to get buy. The same problem exists in many of America’s social programs, albeit to a lesser degree.

Try reading Marx. The man was a complete retard, had batshit insane theories about the history of the class struggle, and was ethnocentric even by the standards of the Victorians.
