Also, stating the Chinese are a majority on the internet is kind of misleading since the Chinese government won’t allow its people to have unfettered access to it and that really dilutes their contribution to the medium. Except, of course, in the area of internet crime and espionage, there the Chinese government actually encourages it.

The Majority of the world call Association Football simply Football (or Futbol). The name of the game is a vernacular. It changes wherever you go. In the United States, Football would refer to American Football. England, Football would be “soccer,” and in Brazil, Football would be corrected to FUTIBOL (depending on where you are, I believe in Sao Paulo there’s a 98% chance FUTIBAL will be directly followed by a MANO!).

Since the name of the sport is more a vernacular then it is an actual term, then we must assume a majority wherever we are. Since this is the internet (There are no particular bounds to it), we must opt for the majority of Internet users. Since the highest number of people accessing the internet comes from China, at around 298 million, compared to the 228 million in the U.S, then we must assume we must use the vernacular for “soccer” in Chinese. Therefore, from now on “soccer” will now be referred as 英式足球. Hope that answers any further discussion.
