What Steve seems to forget is that this is a user content driven site. Tiki is not suppling all the content… A smart man would of asked for a credit to be added to the photo and have taken the free advertising and traffic to the site. My suggestion is that you stop looking a gift horse in the mouth. Additionally, if you are that concerned about the media you openly publish to the web spreading around then you might also want to invest interest in scripting methods to prevent the simple right click saving of images. I have looked at the site and you can do so. The complaint was filed and the page removed. The backend direct link to the image was most likely an over sight. As for threating to contact his host… (As I work for one)… the ISP is most likely is not going to get involved unless the content itself is of an illegal nature (such as child porn).
I also like this, plus the fact that he did not send a DMCA takedown notice for the other picture when sending a link to it, and how he said “Do I need to send this to your host as well” in his second mail, when his first email “has also been sent to your host”. And how he apparently failed to click the link on the FAQ where he copied the instructions from to see that on almost every other post that was taken down, TIKI LEFT THE DMCA UP.
Also, Tiki, you might want to put one of those “this website is not responsible for comments” disclaimers up just in case any more people think for some reason that you have conversations with yourself in public.

If someone commits an offense, even a made-up make believe offense like copyright infringement against you, but they happen to be in a different country, you can still take action against them according to that country’s laws, either by having an attorney of your country appear in the other country’s court, or by finding an attorney in the other country to act on your behalf. In cases where someone commits an offense against you that isn’t an offense in their country, then your only option is to hope that individuals government agrees to an extradition. Ironically, if Tiki was in Canada and Steve was in the States, Tiki could happily thumb his nose at Steve, since Canada has no equivalent to the DMCA at present.
That being said, Tiki has complied with the take down notice, and there is no law that says Tiki can’t tell Stevo that he’s a giant saggy sack of dirty douche water. In fact, I’m pretty sure you guys have a lovely little First Amendment that ensures you never have to worry about winding up in court by calling Steve on his rampant douchebaggery.
The sooner people realise the fucking internet as a whole constitutes a public domain, and once you stick your precious copyrighted material on the intertubes, you’re effectively giving up your rights to it.
