    They actually have nothing to do with Christianity. They’re called “putti” and are pretty much cupids as this is a painting depicting a Greek goddess. [You learn interesting things when you take Art History.] Christianity, like with many things, adapted pagan entities and symbols in order to make pagans more comfortable with becoming Christian; thus the cupids/putti became cherubs – a choir of angel.
